Type "dogs allowed" into Airbnb's filters and watch the results melt away. Most hosts say no. I get it — one bad dog gets expensive fast. But I say yes. And it works, as long as everyone follows a few rules nobody writes down anywhere.
Demandez, même quand c'est écrit « animaux acceptés »Ask, even when it says "pets allowed"
"Pets allowed" doesn't mean "all animals, in any quantity." Write to me: "we're coming with our 4-year-old lab, clean, used to cottages." One dog? Two? A Great Dane or a chihuahua? It changes everything for me — and a host who's been told is a relaxed host.
Ne laissez jamais le chien seul au chaletNever leave the dog alone at the chalet
Rule number one. Non-negotiable. A dog alone in a strange place: anxiety, barking, and sometimes a chewed door frame. It's also the number one reason hosts stop accepting dogs — one bad weekend and it's over for everyone.
Vous sortez souper ? Le chien vient. Ou quelqu'un reste. Point.
Going out for dinner? The dog comes. Or someone stays. Period.

Their bed, their blanket — the sofa will thank you. Their bowls. And a towel for paws at the door: in November in Rawdon, with slush caked on every paw, that's not an option. It's a necessity.
A dog with familiar things around is a calm dog. A calm dog is a host who keeps saying yes.

Ramassez.
Pick it up. Every time. In winter you think "the snow will hide it." And in spring, I'm the one who finds it while mowing the lawn. Your chalet neighbours will thank you too — nobody wants that on their boots.
Spa et sauna : interdits aux chiensHot tub and sauna: no dogs
Sounds obvious. I say it anyway, because I've actually been asked: no dogs in the hot tub. Water chemistry, the cover, safety — non-negotiable. Anyway, your dog will prefer sprinting through the snow like a maniac. Let them.
Because good dog owners are often my best guests. They communicate, they're careful, they leave the place spotless. And I see the pattern come back in reviews: "thank you for accepting dogs." Three words that remind me why I won't change.
So here it is: at our places, dogs are welcome. It's written in the listing. And it's sincere.
